We photographed a beautiful couple recently for their 1 year anniversary. We were thrilled when they contacted us with the idea of doing a vintage picnic inspired shoot; and we have to say we were so impressed with all the little details that Lauren made for this special shoot. We just might need to borrow her talents for future styled shoots. The couple loves to travel so after talking on the phone we decided to use maps for many of the little details, can you believe she made all those map pinwheels herself!
“We are so thankful for your work and pictures! They turned out beautiful and you captured our love and details just like we wanted!” – Lauren

I had my first experience with Wisteria this spring and I have to say that Wisteria in bloom may be one of the loveliest things I have ever seen.

I was born in Jamaica, spent much of my childhood and young adulthood in Miami and then I lived in Arizona for 8 years so it was not until last March when I moved to Pennsylvania that I experienced a real spring; before then I thought trees only bloomed flowers in movies. I now live in Virginia and this spring has been just as beautiful and eye opening; I am amazed daily by all the changes and how quickly things come into bloom; it truly is lovely beyond words.

Wonderful pictures Shayla, you are so talented!
i will not die an unlived life. i will not live in fear of falling or of catching fire. i choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, making me less afraid, more accessible. to loosen my heart, so that it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. i choose to risk my significance. to live so that that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom. and that which comes to me as blossom goes on as fruit. – dawna markova
